BIOGRAPHY
Throughout his career as a touring musician and session player, songwriter, drummer, producer Steve Shive, has drummed for and recorded with artists such as Tim Moore (2nd Avenue), R&R Hall of Famer Daryl Hall, Kingfish, Jimi Jamison (Survivor), Robbie Dupree, David Lindley (Jackson Brown, Ry Cooder), funk and r&b guitar legend TJ Tindall (TSOP, Chambers Bros., Bonnie Raitt, Michael Jackson, The O'Jays), Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Michael Hampton (P-Funk, Living Colour) Daryl Dixon and The Chops horn section (Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Sting) and The Uptown Horns!! He has also worked with Grammy nominated producers Ken Scott (Beatles, David Bowie, Supertramp, Jeff Beck), Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Ry Cooder), Nick Jameson (Foghat) and Tom Marolda! He was also a founding member and writer & producer of the indie-rock band, Vermilion, (with his son & daughter) and also founded wrote for & produced with his daughter, Brooke Shive & the 45's. "Way Past Gone" written with his collaborators, was the title song of their album and won The Robert Hazard Award for best song in 2012! Their single from that record "Lie, Lie, Lie" went to #5 on the AOR charts!
Currently Steve is recording and producing a new collection of songs that he has written for his new project, Steve Shive & The Urban Saints. Steve has always been influenced by not only people he has worked with on stage and in the studio, but also the artists he grew up listening to as a kid in suburban Philadelphia. Opening in his teens for bands like The Delphonics, Brenda & The Tabulations and The Intruders! His style is an amalgam of soul, roots, americana, blues and country. Steve resides with his wife and muse, Shelle in Bucks County, PA. "I can only write what I feel, and my hope is that other people can find a kindred soul & meaning in my music that they can feel and relate to in their life as well."
